It Was The Girliest Birthday EVER!!!! Part One

Last week, the girl celebrated her 7th birthday! She had been wanting a locket (for her WHOLE life) and she had asked off and on about getting her ears pierced, so we decided to buy her a locket and then surprise her with a trip to the mall to get her ears pierced! It was quite the momentous occasion, and she couldn't believe it when we got to the store in the mall and told her she was getting her ears pierced. She kept looking all over the store for a locket to buy with her allowance. (We were having dinner later, and were going to give her the locket then...so she had no idea!) I think she might originally have thought we brought her there to find a locket. The whole ear piercing thing took her totally by surprise. It was SO much fun to watch her face! Since she's little, they had two technicians do her ears at the same time...just in case she freaked out after the first one and wouldn't do the second!
She did great, although I really wish I had snapped a picture of her face when they actually pierced her ears. I didn't want the flash to distract them, so I took the picture just before they did it, but her face was priceless! As you can see, she was perfectly fine as soon as they were finished. It's kind of hard to see the beautiful pink (of course) cubic zirconia earrings in this picture, so I took a close up...you're welcome. And here she is with her daddy, who is wrapped completely around her little seven-year-old finger! I'm actually including this picture for two reasons; a) it's a good picture, and b) to show off hubby's new glasses!!! He's handsome in them don't you think? He really wanted another round pair like he had before, but the salesclerk, the kids, and I won out and I think we did a darn good job! Actually, it was the salesclerk who found them. She had a really great eye and if it hadn't been for her, I'm not sure he ever would have tried these on...thank you Mam! Yes, her name was Mam. It's a Thai name, and I absolutely LOVED hearing my husband (who was not raised in the south and has never used the word "ma'am" that I know of) call this woman "Mam"! And finally, because I know you're wondering...here's her cake. I know, the bow is not up to my normal 3-D bow-making standards, but that is because the girl wanted a flat bow, not a puffy bow. Thankyouverymuch.

It's nice to read ab out girly birthdays. It doesn't happen at all around my place with four boys! I can live vicariously through others! What an adorable birthday girl and birthday cake! My son's girfriend has her father wrapped around her little figner too! I am the only one who's got that advantage around here and it's with hubby! LOL!
